Statistical information of the composition of the German motor vehicle park in 1971, about numbers, age and type of vehicle. A comparison with the vehicle park in 1956, 1961 and 1966 shows the sharp increase, in numbers as well as percentage (from 28 to 82) of passengers cars and station cars (from 1.5 to 6.0 %), with a corresponding decrease in motor cycles and mopeds. Only 3% has diesel or other (e.g. rotary) engines. Average age for passenger cars is less than 5 years for motor cycles more than 12 years. A slower increase in percentage of passenger cars after 1975 is envisaged.
