Abstract

The part of the central area of Bremen is sub-divided by traffic restricting and traffic regulating measures into four traffic cells of about the same size. Each of the cells is accessible through certain gates only. Traffic within the cells is regulated; by one-way streets to avoid intersections as far as possible. The areas inside the cells are reserved to pedestrians. The cell solution has for over ten years proved its efficiency.
