Abstract

A research has been done in order to investigate the influences of road surface irregularities in the form of the so-called cat eyes on the behaviour of motorcycles. Driving tests were made by experienced motorcyclists on dry as well as wet pavements with cat eyes, after which the conclusion was drawn that dangerous situations could rise when making turns on wet roads. An important factor during the tests was the speed of the motorcycle, and tyre responses when riding over the cat eyes.
