Abstract

Bicycles are an integral part of children's lives and are presently more popular than ever in Australia. Definite evidence now exists that crash helmets will reduce the mortality of pedal cyclists. Bicycles are also associated with a large number of more trivial accidents that do not involve official reporting. A review of attendances at a hospital reveals that the bicycle is the most common single agent causing accidents.
