Abstract

A study was made of bicycle ownership among 6000 school children (aged 5-12 years) in Burlington, Vermont, and of all medically treated injuries over a 4-month period. Correlation between injured children and bicycle style, length and nature of bicycle riding experience, risk taking behaviour, age and sex, are considered, after which the major conclusions are presented.
