Abstract

This book draws together the major developments from the United Kingdom, The USA, Holland, Australia, France, Germany and Sweden. It sets out a framework of practical low-cost methods for accommodating and encouraging cycling as an integral part of urban transport planning. It examines: planning a bicycle network, bicycle use, safety of cycling, routes for cyclists, designing constructing and altering junctions, signs and carriageway markings, bicycle parking, education and encouragement.
