Abstract

A study in Denmark to evaluate the traffic safety effects of cycle tracks in urban areas, is described. A before and after experiment with control group was monitored over the period 1876- 1983; 28 Danish cities were involved. Results show that the cycle- tracks constructed in the 1976- 1983 period were not as successful as could expected from earlier studies.Several hypotheses are given to explain this.
