Bicycle user facilities : just what are the research requirements ?

Abstract

The assessment of bicycle users themselves is a key element: the behaviour of young cyclists is not the same as that of the older cyclists, nor do commuter cyclists behave the same way as recreational riders. It is not appropriate to lump all of these together, and simply refer to "cyclists". However, data required to do any better is not always available.
