Abstract

The paper details the requirements of an effective bike network that will get more people cycling more often. This includes provision of on-road lanes, off road paths and cycle friendly local roads linked together so that people can ride somewhere not go somewhere to ride. Bicycle Victoria’s experience with two new suburbs Docklands in the inner city and Aurora in the outer suburbs illustrate the real life challenges.
