Abstract

Measures which simply serve to separate motorized from bicycle traffic bring very little and may even discourage bicyclists. If, however, they have the effect of making the bicycle route faster, easier and safer, in other words more attractive, the people may well be encouraged to use their bicycles rather than their cars.
