Abstract

This paper describes the results of an ante study into the effects of traffic- and environment parameters on the number of pedestrian accidents on pedestrian crossings. These results are based on an analysis of 305 accidents with pedestrians on 146 intersections. The analysis was made using a "multi-proportional Poisson Model". It was concluded that at intersections with at least one controlled pedestrian crossing the number of accidents increases with the increase of the number of crossing pedestrians.
