Abstract

In South Australia the major co-ordinating focus for bicycle planning is the State Bicycle Committee. In 1981, the Committee assisted with the development of the Adelaide bikeplan. The goals of the bike plan are: to increase the safety and use of the bicycle, to improve and enhance the environment for cycling and to co-ordinate the integration of the bicycle with State planning, funding and evaluation processes. Specific South Australian initiatives include: ride or your life education program and a bicycle helmet promotion campaign.
