Abstract

The mechanism of injuries and the capability of the human body to tolerate mechanical loads are of fundamental mean, when a safety equipment of a vehicle is to be examined. Deepen analyses with methods like factor- analysis or discriminatory analysis reveal that human dimensions and some characteristics of human skeleton bones affect the probability of injuries in a side impact more than mechanical measures like thorax acceleration, deforma- tion, bending of body parts or things like that.
