Abstract

This paper discusses how existing economic conditions and shortcomings of the public transport system gave birth to the unofficial transport, later regulated as alternative public transport service. Despite some problems, the alternative service has taught a lesson, that consumers are ready and willing to pay reasonable prices for better services, and regular service companies and the government must prepare to meet the new demands with more investment in quality, comfort, and efficiency. (A) The French title of the paper is: "La naissance du transport alternatif au District Fédéral".
