Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2181 contains 13 papers that explore permanent deformation of asphalt mixtures, fatigue crack propagation model of asphalt concrete, predictions of dynamic modulus of asphalt concrete mixtures, prediction of mechanical behavior of asphalt mixtures, and a new test procedure for evaluating cracking resistance in bituminous mixtures. This issue of the TRR also examines the effect of thermal stresses on pavement performance under mild climate conditions, fracture energy of asphalt mixtures, the flow number simple performance test, a flow number predictive model, predictive models for populating dynamic moduli of long-term pavement performance sections, stiffening mechanisms of asphalt-aggregate mixtures, rutting resistance of laboratory-prepared and field-compacted asphalt mixtures, and the estimate of fatigue shift factors between laboratory tests and field performance.
