Abstract
An outline is given of the history of safety-glass and the development of toughened and laminated glass. The manner in which injuries are sustained when the head hits each type of glass is described and the results of a study on actual accidents involving toughened windscreens as well as the new HPR laminated wind screens are presented. The results show that laminated glass causes less and minor injuries than the toughened glass. The problem of ocular injuries is also mentioned.
