Abstract
The illustrations in this publication give vivid testimony to the widespread neglect of fundamental safety practices on our highways. Outstanding examples are guardrails that lead an errant vehicle into an obstruction instead of around it, and sign posts constructed of eight-inch steel beam, where breakaway posts could be used, or positioned in places where vehicles frequently leave the roadway.
