Abstract
This report gives an estimate of travel and travel risk per motor vehicle during 1992 in the Republic of South Africa. The estimates are based on average fuel consumption, kilometers travelled, motor vehicle registration and fuel sales. Results are compared with those of previous surveys. The fatality rate declined from 11,5 per 100 million vehicle kilometres in 1991 to 10,4 in 1992, whereas the rate for fatal collisions declined from 9,6 in 1991 to 8,6 in 1992.
