Abstract

Seventeen full- scale crash tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of box- beam guiderail terminals designed for roadway situations where geometric restrictions preclude use of the standard terminal length and offset flare. A design was developed that provided good redirection close to the end of the terminal and eliminated snagging by departing vehicles.
