Abstract
In the three articles, Braking Performance of Motor Vehicles, the Relation of Gross Weights and Horsepower of Commercial Vehicles, and Offtracking calculations for Trailer Combination printed in this issue of the magazine, some common technical terminology is used. For the convenience of the reader, these terms are explained in the following paragraphs. Specific terms are defined in each article. Single unit trucks and trailer combinations have been designated by numerical and letter combination codes based on the number of axles and their arrangement. The codes for these commercial vehicles are defined in the following list.
