Abstract
A summary from a British investigation showed an increase in motor vehicle fired, especially with buses and motor cycles. Causes were mainly in the electrical wiring and the engine; with lorries they were either mechanical by nature e.g. arising from a punctured tyre) or they lied in the freight (ashes, soot). Methods of extinguishing fires and suitable means thereto (e.g. BCF) are briefly discussed. Water also proved to be effective.
