Abstract

The author makes a summary comparison of the Brazilian Highway Research Institute and its 20 counterpart organisations around the world. The paper shows two principal types of highway research organisations-those with conduct research and are generally funded by government, and those which correlate research and generally rely on voluntary contributions for support. Detailed explorations of support and research programs are summarised.
