Abstract
The material in this design kit is disseminated by United States Steel to encourage the construction of safer sign structures. The new Breakaway Sign Post design was conceived by engineers of the Texas Highway Department. Research and development work was conducted by the Texas Transportation Institute. In Several actual collisions, these posts have already prevented potential fatalities.
