Abstract

The D3 (digital daylight display) light emitting diode (LED) system offered by Austrian company Swarco/Sunamic is described. The company's electronic displays can show anything that can be shown on a digital monitor, e.g. videos, pictures or alphanumeric information. The company had optimised the performance of networked large screen systems as an information and advertising medium. The advantages of the system include single LED protection, full digital gamma correction, 10-bit digital colour technology, a direct cooling system, and fully modular systems. Swarco Futurit has developed traffic guidance display systems such as the variable message sign, the DRIP (dynamic route information panel, the CIP (city information panel) and the GRIP (graphic route information panel). The company's optical system improves the efficiency of the diodes and reflections are avoided. The advantages of LED displays are outlined. The latest traffic safety product from Swarco Futurit is the LaneLight LED road marker. For the covering abstract see ITRD E115762.
