Abstract

In 1993, two federal government departments, Transport Canada and Industry Canada commissioned a study to develop the groundwork for establishing strategic directions for IVHS in Canada. A "lines of evidence" approach was used combined with an innovative industry mapping technique, with the conclusion that the basic direction of a national IVHS strategy should be to focus initially on a number of specific IVHS products and markets. This initial focus was seen as providing the catalyst for longer term developments in other IVHS areas. (A)
