Abstract

This paper addresses the design philosophies required to design a functional and robust bullbar for an airbag equipped vehicle. Areas addressed in this paper include potential issues with after market bullbars, design of the bullbar to vehicle substructure interface, testing and validating original equipment (OE) bullbars and real world functional performance.
