Abstract

Traffic congestion on motorways can be reduced by increasing the use of public transportation and carpooling. This change in modalchoice can be achieved by offering carpools and buses a separate lane on which congestion on regular lanes can be avoided and traveltimes can therefore substantially be reduced.
