Abstract

The author outlines the progress of bus rapid transit systems development in the U.S.A. Projects in many major U.S. urban areas are described, and vehicle improvements are anticipated with respect to aesthetics, passenger comfort, performance/ environmental effects and guidance/control features. In the future, there will be further improvements in the vehicles, the travel-way, and combined vehicle/travel-way systems.
