Abstract

Nine buses and coaches were tested to measure the parameters affecting rollover including the maximum tilt angle. A computer simulation of a rollover initiated by a curb impact has been developed and used to predict the threshold velocities at which rollover will take place for the buses tested. The effect of various parameters on the threshold velocity was assessed and compared with their influence on tilt test performance as evaluated by a tilt test simulation.
