Abstract

The findings in this report are based on a series of crash tests conducted by Crashlab in New South Wales. Vehicle manufacturers were given the opportunity to view their test and examine their vehicle before and after the test. It is assumed that the vehicles purchased for the test program were typical of those available to new car purchasers. NCAP tests indicate the relative protection provided to front seat occupants when seat belts are used. NCAP data are most meaningful when assessing relative injury risk in vehicle to vehicle crashes when vehicles compared are within a weight range of 230 kgs.
