A brief description is presented of the German personal public transport system "CAT" or cabinentaxi, which consists of small, self-guided cars powered by twin linear motors and running along tracks that can be elevated, at ground level, or in tunnels. The unique feature of this system is the track, which consists of a steel box beam 1.5 m high and 1.45 m. wide. The top provides a support for vehicles going in one direction, while those going in the opposite direction are suspended below it. A summary is given of the latest cabinentaxi application study to be completed for the town of Hagen in the Ruhr.
