Abstract

Two primary measures op performances for algorithms designed to detect accidents and other incidents which obstruct the flow of traffics on freeways are the detection rate and the false-alarm rate. Calibration of these algorithms involves the choices of several parameters to achieve high detection rates and low false alarm rates. This can be achieved by solution of a set of optimization problems.
