Abstract

The California Center for Innovative Transportation (CCIT) was established in 2004 at the University of California, Berkeley, with a charter to accelerate the deployment of research results and technology by practitioners. As a primarily state-funded organization focused on research implementation, CCIT pioneered a unique model. In light of five years of operations, this paper exposes the workings of that model and provides collected thoughts on the process of innovation and technology deployment.
