Abstract

The book describes a planning process for renewal of urban streets with mixed traffic. The process aims to promote planning which not only satisfies current demands for traffic safety, security, low noise and good air quality, but also provides mobility and accessibility for different traffic modes, including pedestrians. The book also emphasises the desire for preservation of historical and creation of aesthetically valuable street environments. Moreover, information, participation and contributory influences for all involved shall be prioritised. The process makes sure that quality demands be cost efficient and preserves sustained development. For the Swedish version see C 12795 (IRRD E202091).
