Abstract

Railways have to meet new needs coming from their customers, and to upgrade service quality. Intelligent Freight Trains can improve competitiveness by increasing productivity with longer and heavier trains, knowledge of location of goods and train movements, and new information services. The technical system is based on an internal communication system within the train, developed by SNCF and DB-AG. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
