Abstract

The hosting of the Olympic Games is an event of such magnitude that it requires a city to integrate the Olympic requirements with its own vision of the future. This paper outlines how Cape Town's (South Africa) Olympic transportation plan was integrated with the city's vision of an effective multi-modal transportation system. The Olympic transportation planning process has left in place a legacy and framework that has facilitated the future development of the city and the metropolitan region. (A) The French title of the paper is: "Le plan de transport Olympique de la Ville du Cap : les conséquences de son développement".
