Abstract

Skidding and loss of control are frequently reported in accidents. Probably they could often be avoid by pumping the brakes, i.e. by quickly and repeatedly applying and releasing the brakes. This report describes an experimental device for doing automatically. The tests showed that a pumping device would probably be of considerable benefit on a car, but that the experimental version requires further development to make it a practical proposition.
