Car occupant responses to rear-end collisions : a mathematical model.

Abstract

Equations of motion for a non-linear, two degree of freedom mathematical model, which describes car occupant response to a rear-end collision, are developed. The input to the model is obtained by prescribing the acceleration-time profile of the axis of rotation of the seat-back.
