Car restraint and safety.

Abstract

The author is as a police commissioner quite familiar with car restraint (he also has been head of the Amsterdam traffic police). Still he too shows `the world around traffic reform'. He picks up the story where the implementation ends. Where enforcement takes over. Where the newly designed streets are really used by all the exotic users every city knows. Traffic reform has to perform in a real world, where being able to follow up may be as important as the measure itself. A prudent but intense care and enforcement are a sine qua non for traffic reform. (A)
