This issue of Current Topics includes over 65 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the safety of children in passenger cars. Abstracts are included on the design, testing, anchorage, installation and fit of various restraint systems, including lap and shoulder belts, rearward facing systems, framed child seats; other subjects include studies on usage, enforcement, legislation and injuries to restrained children. There are also abstracts relating to injuries and deaths of children attributed to air bags. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2001 and 2003. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. The first issue of this title, CT 44.1, covered abstracts of publications added to the Database between 1992 and 1995. The previous issue of this title, CT 44.2, covered abstracts of publications added to the Database between 1995 and 1999 (see C 12834 S (IRRD E101875).
