Abstract

This paper was presented at the "Cost-effective bridge projects" session. These proceedings are available on CD-ROM. In 1995 the Department of Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation entered into a joint venture with the Federal Government and the Cumberland House Development Corporation (CHDC) to construct a bridge across the North Saskatchewan River, at Cumberland House. This paper will touch on the tri-partite agreement drawn up for the bridge, but focus primarily on the unique human resource provisions which arose from the project. The paper will conclude by assessing the success or failure of the tri-partite agreement in terms of the employment issue. (A)
