Abstract

This paper outlines the results and the lessons learned during a three-year international PROMISE (Personal Mobile Traveller and Traffic Information Service) project led by Nokia Mobile Phones, and co-funded by the European Commission within Telematics Applications Programme of the 4th Framework Programme. PROMISE implemented and demonstrated value-added information services for mobile end-users on European test sites. The information services were based on various travel and travel related content. A large number of end-users were able to access the information with their personal wireless terminals via Internet and digital cellular (GSM) networks. (A*)
