Abstract

This paper briefly summarizes results of research performed by Failure Analysis Associates, Inc. (FaAA), and designed to address key questions about relationship among factors associated with vehicle rollover. To this end, path analysis are applied (1) to test hypotheses concerning how and why vehicle overturn and (2) to estimate relative importance of human, vehicle and environmental factors associated with rollover. One purpose of this paper, which derives from a more detailed report published elsewhere (Donelson et al., 1994) is to bring the technique of path analysis to the attention of other sectors of the diverse road-safety community.
