Casualty rates on public holiday Mondays are not markedly different from those for normal Sundays at the same time of the year. Rates for good Friday are similar to those for normal Fridays at the same time of year, and slightly greater than those for normal Sundays. Casualty rates on public holidays and at the holiday weekends generally, depend markedly on the weather. Over a wet weekend the rate for all casualties can be up to about 20% greater than usual. The ratios of passenger casualties to driver casualties are higher on holiday Mondays than on normal Sundays.
