Abstract

A model of a rational driver is first presented. The model consists of perception of danger, decision, and execution of avoidance action. Deviations from the model are next considered and types of accident-prone drivers are derived. Intentional deviations occur when the driver has mental model riskier than the rational driver. Unintentional deviations take place when the driver with the same mental model as the rational driver cannot materialize it. These two types of deviations are considered to give starting points to search for suitable accident reduction measures. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
