Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present CEDEX and its expertise as the Centre for Transfer of Technology that it generates in its Research and Development Centres and Laboratories. CEDEX is an autonomous agency under the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and the Environment, whose activities revolve mainly around topics related to Civil Engineering, and especially those dealing with Transportation and Highways. CEDEX has a significant Transfer of Technology infrastructure: Showrooms, classrooms with modern multi-media systems, audio-visual laboratories, seven specialized libraries with more than 100,000 books and a link-up to international databases, etc. With regard to International Cooperation, CEDEX is the Spanish-language coordinator of the IRRD Data Base (OECD), as well as the Spanish Node for INTERCHANGE, and is a member of all the commissions and work groups that deal with transfer of technology, of the different International Associations connected with Transportation and Highways. Every year, the Centre for Public Works Studies and Experiments (CEDEX) organizes more than 40 Courses and Seminars, with the assistance of approximately 2,000 Spanish and foreign technicians and engineers. These educational activities occur not only in our classrooms but also in different Spanish-speaking countries. Among all the courses offered, mention should be made of the International Highways course and Soil Mechanics Course and Foundation. These courses, which were launched some 15 years ago,are attended by a large number of Spanish-American engineers as well as from other countries. (A)
