Abstract

DENSO CORPORATION has been simultaneously developing both an active method and a passive method to be used in vehicle-to-roadside communication equipment for ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) systems and DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) technology used in ETC systems. The system using an active method is based on Japanese specifications, which is expected to be applicable not just to ETC systems but to various other fields in the future. The system using a passive method is compliant with the European CEN standards and is aimed at the development of products for markets outside Japan. Recently, a CEN-compliant, one-piece Tag has been developed and its basic performance confirmed. In the future, the Tags will be evaluated under a variety of environmental conditions in order to make them more practical and more reliable. (A*)
