Abstract

CENTRICO is an initiative of the central European regions in order to co-ordinate the implementation of transport telematics. The project is supported by the TEN-T budgetline of DG VII of the European Commission. The feasibility study of 1996 has shown that traffic information exchange between regional traffic centres, cross-border rerouting and RDS-TMC traffic information broadcasting are mature for implementation. In 1997-1998 these Euro-regional services will become operational. The project continues its efforts to harmonise the regional traffic management services. In 1997 the feasibility study concerning traffic and transport management in conurbation areas will be finalised.
