Abstract

The central system described in this paper allows the collection, processing and validation of data on the number and speeds of vehicles passing through the 18 road tunnels in the Region of Brussels Capitale (Belgium). The data is captured locally by traffic analysis equipment. Collection and integration of all the data are then performed by this central system. The system also allows the import of data from other collection units. The whole of the data can then be processed, stored, and distributed to relevant parties, and remains accessible for subsequent interrogation, particularly for statistical purposes.
