Abstract

Road trauma is responsible for approximately 80 percent of all serious neck injuries admitted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. In addition it is responsible for a large number of less severe soft tissue injuries to the neck which may still result in chronic neck symptoms. The various types of neck injuries, together with principles of management and final outcome, are discussed.
